今日のテーマは「語学学習」についてです。
みなさんは、今、語学を勉強していますか？
このPodcastを聞いてくれているので、日本語の勉強をしていると思います。
私も英語の勉強をしています。
今は、そんなに勉強はしていませんが、3年前に留学をしました。
それまでは全く英語を話すことができませんでした。
例えば、外国人の観光客に道を聞かれたとき、私はなにも答えることができなくて、ジェスチャーで説明しました。
それくらい英語が話せなかったんですね。
ただ、そこから留学して、そして日本に帰ってからも自分で勉強をつづけました。
その結果、いま話せるようになりました。
語学学習の際に、一番難しいことは続けることです。
よく、勉強したけど、話せるようにならなかったという人がいますが、その理由は勉強を途中でやめてしまったからです。
ひとりで勉強するときにモチベーションが続かないんですよね。
それは私も経験しました。
だから、ずっと勉強したわけではなくて、勉強をたくさんするときもあれば、勉強をおやすみする時期もありました。
一番いいのは、同じように勉強している人同士で交流をすることですね。
そうすると、モチベーションも上がって勉強を続けることができます。
みなさんもぜひ、勉強仲間・勉強友達をつくってみてください。

Today’s topic is about “language learning”.
Do you study a language?
Since you’re listening to this podcast, I’m assuming you study Japanese.
I also study English.
I don’t study it so much now, but I studied abroad three years ago.
Until then, I could not speak English at all.
For example, when I was asked for directions by a foreign tourist, I couldn’t answer anything, so I explained with body language.
That was the extent of my inability to speak English.
However, I studied abroad and continued to study on my own after returning to Japan.
As a result, I am now able to speak English.
When learning a language, the most difficult thing is to continue.
Some people say that they studied but did not become able to speak the language but it’s because they stopped studying halfway.
It’s hard to stay motivated when you study by yourself.
I experienced that too.
I didn’t study all the time when I studied English; there were times when I studied a lot, and times when I took a break from studying.
The best thing to do is to interact with other people who are studying the same way.
This will motivate you to keep studying.
I recommend you to try to make study buddies and study friends.
