今日のテーマは会議についてです。
皆さんの働いている会社には、会議がたくさんありますか?
私が働いている会社では、会議がたくさんあります。
日によって会議が1つもない日もありますが、大体2つ位毎日あります。
在宅勤務が始まってから、会議がとても楽になりました。
今すべての会議はオンラインで行われています。
なので、画面を通してしか見れません。
会議では、たくさんの時間が自分には関係ないこともあります。
なので私はその間ずっと自分の仕事をしています。
こうすることによって早く終わらせる仕事を早く終わらすことせることができています。
以前は会議室に集まって会議をしていました。
そうすると、なかなか会議以外のことをすることが難しく、ただ椅子に座って会議が終わるのを待っていました。
それはとても非効率だったと思います。
今は、オンラインなので、自分に関係のある内容の時だけしっかりと聞くようにしています。
それ以外では、まぁ聞きながらですけれども、ほとんど集中せずに、自分の仕事をしています。
とても効率がいいです。
あとオンライン会議だと議題が終わったら会議が終わるようになりました。
例えば、会議の時間が1時間だったとしても、45分で終わればそのまま終わっています。
しかし、会議室で集まっていた時は、無理矢理1時間使っていたと思います。
なのでオンライン会議はこれからも続いて欲しいなと思っています。

Today’s theme is about meetings.
Do you have a lot of meetings in the company you work for?
In the company I work for, we have a lot of meetings.
Some days there are no meetings at all, but there are usually about two meetings every day.
Since I started telecommuting, the meetings have become much easier.
All the meetings are now held online.
So, I can be only seen through the screen.
In meetings, a lot of time can be spent on things that are not relevant to me.
So I spend all that time doing my own work.
In this way, I am able to get the work done faster.
In the past, we used to gather in a conference room for meetings, which made it difficult to do anything other than the meeting, so I would just sit in a chair and wait for the meeting to end.
I think that was very inefficient.
Now that I’m online, I try to listen carefully only when the content is relevant to me.
Other than that, I do my work while listening, but without much concentration.
It’s very efficient.
Also, with online meetings, we can end the meeting when the agenda is done.
For example, if the meeting was set for an hour, if it was over in 45 minutes, the meeting would be over.
However, when we were meeting in a conference room, we would have been forced to spend an hour.
So, I hope that online meetings will continue in the future.
