私は今日文化の違いで戸惑いました。
私の会社では、日本人だけではなくて、他の国から来た人もいます。
そして私の部署の中に、主に翻訳を担当している人がいるのですが、彼は日本人ではなく英語圏の人です。
そして英語の翻訳をいつも通りお願いしたら、なんと断られました。
1週間後ぐらいまでにお願いしますと、時間もある中お願いしたのですが「忙しいのでできません」と断られました。
私はそこで、「断るんだ?」と思って。
これはいいか悪いかは置いといて、日本人に仕事をお願いすると、断るっていう選択肢はありません。
もう「分りました」しかないんですね。
で、しかも彼の場合は翻訳担当として仕事をしています。
なのにその仕事も断ると。
これには正直戸惑ったと同時にびっくりしました。
結局どうなったかというと、私は英語ネイティブでもないし、日本人なのですが、なぜか彼の仕事を私がしなければいけなくなりました。
なんかこれおかしいなと思いながら、誰も何も言わないんですよね。
「日本人じゃないからね」と、それで上司も何も言わない。
私だけ仕事が増えたという状況なのですが、こういう文化の違いに戸惑うことがよくあります。
もちろんね、いい文化の違いもたくさんあります。
ただ、仕事をしていく中では、このような文化の違いににことも多いなと思っています。
みなさんは、働いている中で文化の違いを体験したことがありますか?
