皆さんは、日本人と一緒に働いたことがありますか?
ビジネス日本語を使う機会がありますか?

私は普段、会社員として働いています。
なので、毎日ビジネス日本語を使います。
正直、ビジネス日本語は日本人にとっても難しいです。
私も、たまにインターネットで使い方や意味を調べます。
それくらい難しいです。

私の会社には、アメリカ人の同僚がいます。
彼は日本で日本人と一緒に働いているので、毎日日本語を使っています。
日本語が上手です。
しかし、そんな彼でもビジネス日本語は苦労しているようです。
やっぱり敬語が難しいようで、上司には敬語を使っていません。
まぁタメ口、Casual Japaneseを”タメ口”というのですが、彼は誰に対してもタメ口を使っています。
でも、ビジネス日本語は難しいのは、みんな理解しています。
なので、アメリカ人の彼がタメ口を使うことに対して、誰も気になっていません。
誰も気にしません。
それくらい難しいんですね。

なので皆さんもビジネス日本語を学ぶとき、そんなに気にしなくていいと思います。
日本人でも難しいので、そうですね、そんなに頑張って勉強しなくてもいいんじゃないかなと思います。

Today’s theme is about business Japanese.

Have you ever worked with Japanese people?
Do you have a chance to use business Japanese?

I usually work as a company employee.
So, I use Business Japanese every day.
To be honest, business Japanese is difficult even for Japanese people.
I sometimes look up the usage and meaning on the Internet.
That’s how difficult it is.

In my company, I have an American colleague.
He works with Japanese people in Japan, so he uses Japanese every day.
His Japanese is very good.
However, even he seems to be having a hard time with business Japanese.
He doesn’t use keigo with his boss and he uses casual Japanese, which is called “tame guchi,” with everyone.
However, everyone understands that business Japanese is difficult.
So, as he is not a Japanese, no one is bothered by his use of tame-guchi.
No one cares.

So I think you don’t have to worry so much about it when you learn business Japanese.
It’s difficult even for Japanese people, so yes, I don’t think you need to study it so hard.
