English

Hello, everyone.
SAKURA TIPS is a Japanese listening Podcast.

————————–

Today’s theme is about elections.

In Tokyo, where I live, there will be an election on July 4th.
Everyone is going to vote.
For this reason, election activities have recently started.
When I walk around outside, I see campaign cars passing by and campaign speeches being made in front of the station.

I live near the station.
So I can always hear the speeches in the morning and in the evening, that is, during my commute.
It’s been hot lately, so I’ve been working at home with the windows open, but I can still hear the speeches.
In fact, I can still hear it now.
I hope it’s not in this recording, but I’m sorry if you can hear it.

Recently, people over the age of 18 have been given the right to vote.
However, the percentage of young people who go to the polls is very low.
There are so many young people who are not interested in politics.
The low voter turnout among young people has been a problem for a long time.
That is why the age for voting was lowered from 20 to 18 years old.
I am going to the election.
I will vote properly.
But I can understand why it is a hassle.
In your country, how is the voting rate among young people?

————————–

Well, that’s it for today.
