Hello, everyone.
SAKURA TIPS is a Japanese listening Podcast.

————————–

Today’s theme is about national holidays.

In Japan, the 22nd and 23rd of July are national holidays.
I also have that day off from work and have a four-day weekend from Thursday to Sunday.
These are the only holidays this year.
The one in July and the other one in October have been moved to these days.
The reason is the Olympics.
The government just moved the holidays for the Olympics.
In my opinion, it doesn’t matter which one it is, but well, it doesn’t mean that the number of holidays has decreased, nor has it increased.

There are 16 national holidays in a year in Japan.
At my company, we follow the calendar, so we are off on national holidays.
However, many Japanese people don’t know what they are celebrating even if there are national holidays.
What we think is important is that the day is a holiday.

So, if you have a Japanese friend, try asking him or her why today is a holiday. I think there are very few people who can answer that question.
I’m sure not many of them will be able to answer.
Well, Japanese people don’t take vacations very often, so it is important to have this kind of environment where we can take a mandatory day off.
If you have a chance to work in Japan, you will love holidays more.
