今日のテーマは、「しゃぶしゃぶ」についてです。
11月になり、だんだん寒くなってきましたね。
寒いときに食べたくなるのが、しゃぶしゃぶです。
みなさんは、しゃぶしゃぶという日本の料理を知っていますか？
鍋に野菜や肉を入れて、ポン酢やごまだれをつけて食べます。
日本人が大好きな料理です。
私は、大学生のころ、しゃぶしゃぶ料理のレストランで働いていました。
そこで、しゃぶしゃぶの正しい料理の仕方と正しい食べ方を学びました。
しゃぶしゃぶは熱い食べ物です。
なので、寒い冬に食べられます。しかし、夏でもしゃぶしゃぶを食べる人は多く、日本人はしゃぶしゃぶが大好きだなあと思いました。
食べ終わった後は、お鍋にうどんやご飯を入れて食べます。
これを「しめ」と呼びます。
「しめ」とは、英語の言葉はありませんが、「closure」がいいかもしれません。
しゃぶしゃぶを食べ終わるための、うどん・ご飯 という意味です。
1つの料理で、たくさんの味を楽しめることも、しゃぶしゃぶが人気である理由の１つです。
みなさんはしゃぶしゃぶを食べたことがありますか？
食べたことがなければ、ぜひ食べてみてください。

Today’s theme is “Shabu-shabu”.
It’s getting colder and colder in November.
Shabu-shabu is one of the things that Japanese people want to eat in cold weather.
Have you ever heard of a Japanese dish called Shabu-shabu?
Vegetables and meat are placed in a hot pot and eaten with ponzu or sesame sauce.
It is a favorite dish of Japanese people.
When I was a college student, I worked in a shabu-shabu restaurant.
I learned the proper way to cook shabu-shabu and the proper way to eat it.
Shabu-shabu is a hot food.
So you can eat it in the cold winter. However, there are many people who eat shabu-shabu even in summer and I realized that Japanese people love shabu-shabu.
After you finish eating it, you put udon or rice in the pot and eat it.
This is called “Shime”.
There is no English word for “shime”, but maybe “closure” would be better for translation.
It means udon and rice to finish eating shabu-shabu.
One of the reasons why shabu-shabu is so popular is that you can enjoy many flavors in one dish.
